Diagnostic Endoscopy

A procedure to examine the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Diagnostic endoscopy helps identify conditions such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), tumors, and inflammation. It enables early detection and treatment of GI disorders, providing valuable insights for effective medical management.

Colonoscopy

A detailed examination of the colon and rectum using a colonoscope. This procedure helps detect conditions like colon cancer, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and diverticulitis. Colonoscopy is essential for early diagnosis and prevention of colorectal diseases, allowing for timely treatment and improved patient outcomes.

ERCP

A specialized procedure combining endoscopy and X-ray to diagnose and treat disorders of the bile ducts, pancreatic ducts, and gallbladder. ERCP is used for identifying blockages, stones, strictures, or tumors, and for performing therapeutic interventions such as stenting, stone removal, and dilation to restore proper bile flow.

Variceal Banding

A procedure used to prevent bleeding in patients with esophageal or gastric varices, which are swollen veins caused by increased pressure in the portal vein. By placing rubber bands around the varices, the procedure reduces the risk of bleeding, effectively managing complications in patients with liver disease or cirrhosis.

Clipping

A hemostatic procedure that involves placing metal clips on bleeding blood vessels or ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract. Clipping effectively controls GI bleeding from ulcers, lesions, or tumors, allowing patients to recover without invasive surgery and minimizing the risk of re-bleeding.

Dilatation

Dilatation involves the widening of narrowed sections in the esophagus, stomach, or intestines caused by conditions such as strictures or achalasia. Using a balloon or dilator, the procedure improves swallowing or digestion by restoring normal passage of food and liquids through the gastrointestinal tract.

Injection Sclerotherapy

A technique used to treat bleeding varices, where a sclerosing solution is injected into or around the varices. This causes the veins to shrink and scar, reducing the risk of further bleeding. It is commonly used in patients with esophageal varices caused by liver disease.

Stenting

Stenting involves placing a metal or plastic stent to relieve blockages or narrowing in the gastrointestinal or biliary tract. Commonly used for esophageal, intestinal, or bile duct obstructions caused by cancer, strictures, or gallstones, stents restore normal function and improve patient quality of life.

Foreign Body Removal

This procedure safely removes objects accidentally swallowed or stuck in the gastrointestinal tract. Using endoscopy, the foreign object is located and carefully extracted to prevent complications such as obstruction, injury, or infection, ensuring the patient’s safety and avoiding the need for invasive surgery.
